It trims stray data around the file, rebuilds a broken cross-reference table by scanning for objects, and rebuilds the page list when that is missing.
An honest report
You are told which method worked, how many pages were recovered and which problems were found.
A clean copy
The result is written out as a fresh, well-formed PDF that ordinary viewers can open.
Stays on your device
A damaged file often holds something you care about. It is repaired in your browser and never uploaded.
Repair PDF: questions and answers
Can every damaged PDF be repaired?
No. Data that is missing from the file cannot be brought back. A file that was cut short may come back with fewer pages, and a file with no readable page cannot be recovered at all.
What kind of damage can it fix?
Typical cases are a download that added or lost bytes at the start or end, a broken or missing cross-reference table, and a missing page list.
My PDF opens but asks for a password. Is it damaged?
No. It is protected. Use the Unlock PDF tool with the password instead.
Is my file uploaded?
No. The repair runs in your browser.
