How to sign a PDF online

  1. Open the PDF you need to sign.
  2. Choose Add signature, then draw it, type your name, or upload a photo of your signature.
  3. Place the signature where it belongs and drag a corner to adjust its size.
  4. Add the date or a check mark if the form asks for one, then select Download.

What you get

  • Three ways to sign

Draw on a touch screen or with a mouse, type your name and pick a style, or photograph a signature written on paper.

  • Clean results from a photo

For an uploaded signature you can remove the paper background and recolour the ink so it sits naturally on the page.

  • Fill in the rest of the form

Add text, the date, check marks and cross marks alongside your signature.

  • Your signature stays private

The signature image and the document are processed in your browser and are not uploaded.

Sign PDF: questions and answers

Is this a certificate-based digital signature?

No. This tool places a visible image of your signature on the page. It does not add a cryptographic, certificate-based digital signature, so use a dedicated signing service if your document requires one.

Can I sign a PDF on my phone?

Yes. Open the page in your phone browser, open the PDF and draw your signature with your finger.

Can I use a signature I wrote on paper?

Yes. Take a photo of it or upload an existing picture. You can remove the background so only the ink is placed on the document.

Is my signature sent to a server?

No. The signature is created and placed on the PDF inside your browser.
